Discover Tec Diving
(for certified divers)

Discover Tec allows divers who are curious about tec diving to try out a full technical rig in controlled conditions. The emphasis is on trying out tec diving, so the use of a full, standardized technical setup as required for Tec 45 and beyond is recommended. Discover Tec may be credited towards the Tec 40 course if you meet all performance requirements for the dive. However, skills performance is not required for the course.

You will need your basic scuba gear and you will try out technical scuba diving equipment such as twin tanks, manifold, lift bag and stage tanks which will be provided during the course.

Duration: 1/2 day, 1 confined or limited open water dive.

Prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent, age: over 18, 10 logged dives.

Materials: none.

Tec 40
(for certified divers)

The Tec 40 course introduces divers to limited decompression diving within accepted recreational depth limits. Although the student who clearly intends to take Tec 50 course is encouraged to complete Tec 40 in the complete tec diving gear,  the Tec 40 course allows more flexibility.

Therefore, to accommodate divers interested in very limited tec diving, the Tec 40 equipment requirements are only a bit beyond those of the standard recreational kit. Candidates interested in continuing their tec education, can do the course in a full tec rig.

A Tec 40 diver is qualified to use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 meters/130 feet and use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50) for safer decompression.

The Tec 40 course consists of acquiring additional theoretical knowledge, three practical sessions, one confined or limited open water dive, two open water no stop dives (simulated decompression) and one open water decompression dive.
