The calm Zaton Bay, located between the villages of Zaton and Orašac, is one of our diving locations, and the reason why you must visit is the two underwater caves perfect for exploring. Both caves are located on the northwestern side of the bay at a depth of five meters and represent a perfect diving experience for divers of all categories!
The first cave we dive into is closer to the open sea and its entrance, through which divers pass in pairs, is five meters deep. You can dive into the cave up to 10 meters from the entrance, where you enter its magnificent interior with a sandy bottom. This underwater cave hides a special feature in the afternoon, which is the perfect play of light when the sun shines through the crack at its top and illuminates its interior.
The second underwater cave is at the same depth as the first, and its entrance is much more spacious and easier to overcome. It consists of two air pockets, and the bottom of this underwater cave consists of large pebbles that gradually transform into gravel, and finally sand. At 20 meters from the entrance and a depth of two meters, divers emerge into the first air pocket that accommodates up to six divers. Then we dive and crawl into the second, much more spacious air pocket in which there is a small sandy beach surrounded by stalactites.
After diving in the caves, we will cross the bay and dive to an average depth of 10 meters towards the southeast. Here we will encounter an underwater wall that leads to a massive rock at a depth of 18 meters. Experienced ones will be able to dive even deeper! A dive to 30 meters guarantees an encounter with lobsters on the sandy bottom.
